Ross County striker Joel MacBeath has today joined Montrose on loan until January. The striker, who is currently involved in the clubs reserve team signed his first professional contract here in Dingwall this summer. He links up with former Staggie Stewart Petrie, currently manager of Montrose FC.
On the loan move, Reserve Team Manager Richie Brittain said “It’s a good step for Joel. This move will give him a test and put him up against good League 1 opposition and experienced players on a regular basis. Joel is somebody we have high hopes for and we very much view this as a good opportunity for him to continue his development. We hope from his time with Montrose he will push himself and challenge to be in their team every week and if he does that we know he is capable of performing.”
Joel, who has come through the youth ranks here in Dingwall was optimistic about the challenge. He said “Its going to be a tough challenge but no different to what I face here. Hopefully by going to Montrose I will be able to play my way in to the team and challenge for position and learn from the opportunity. League 1 is a very difficult league, if you look at Montrose, Falkirk, Raith and the others they all have experienced players that will be physically and technically strong and its up to me to show I can compete with that.”
