On Tuesday August 18 Stuart Kettlewell’s Development Squad traveled to Glebe Park in Brechin to play their Dundee United counterparts in a Development League fixture.
With a good reputation for developing youth, a tough game with Davie Bowman’s United team was expected but the Ross County Development Squad were more than a match for the Tangerines.
The first half at Glebe Park ended goal-less but County started the second half strong and after Tony Dingwall had twice gone close with two fine long range efforts, Stuart Murdoch opened the scoring on the 64th minute with a bullet-header from 9 yards. Midfielder, Darren Moffat (19), who has just joined the club from Livingston on a one-year contract with the Development Squad, weighed in with the assist.
With the three points seemingly destined to come back up the A9, County were caught out just three minutes from the final whistle by a 50 yard cross-field ball which was fed to United’s Ali Coote who finished well past keeper, Mark Foden. The full time score was 1-1.
