At a rainy Global Energy Stadium, the Ross County and Motherwell Development squads served up a sizzling seven goal thriller that saw Stuart Kettlewell's men run out worthy winners.
Starting the game brighter, the visitors may have felt hard done by to find themselves 1-0 behind from Thomas Mikkelsen's header on 25 minutes. That feeling was compounded as the Young Staggies took control of the half, doubling their advantage with the big Danish striker netting from 15 yards on the half hour mark.
With Motherwell still pressing as the first period wore on, a home win was far from a foregone conclusion as the half time whistle sounded. And that intent from the visitors continued after the interval as Well's Turnbull scored from 20 yards past the diving Ross Munro on the hour mark.
No less than four minutes later and Motherwell were on target again to level the match at 2-2, with Luke Watt drilling home at the back post.
County went ahead just three minutes later when Billy Mckay's cute finish hit the back of the net but just two minutes after that Mothwerwell levelled again when Jack McMillan nipped in at the back post to make it 3-3.
With 15 minutes left to play Ross MacIver conjured up a goal out of nothing, crashing the ball home from 15 yards to make it 4-3.
In the dying minutes the Steelmen pushed for another equaliser but it was not to be and it was a deserved three points for Kettlewell's team.
