DEVELOPMENT Young Staggies suffer home loss to Dundee

In a game in which the momentum ebbed this way and that during a feisty first half, seeing the visitors taking an early lead only for the home team to equalise after a sustained period of pressure - Dundee ran out the eventual winners in this SPFL Development League fixture at the Highland Football Academy.

An evenly contested first half saw the visitors start marginally stronger and take the lead on 25 minutes when Matty Henvey drilled home from 15 yards. But the Young Staggies settled into the game as the half wore on and got a deserved equaliser on the stroke of half time through Ross MacIver.

County started the second half on the front foot and were unlucky not to go ahead when James Wallace - a first half replacement for Ryan Dow - saw his cutback to Russell Dingwall smothered by the Dundee defence with the threat thwarted.

In the 64th minute Henvey got his second for Dundee and two quickfire efforts for the visitors from Max Anderson and John Smith in the next ten minutes put Dundee out of reach.

Two late Ross MacIver efforts failed to trouble the keeper as County pushed to get back into the game as the clock ticked down.
