EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW Kettlewell on Carlisle's Trip North

Earlier this afternoon we managed to catch up with Co-Manager, Stuart Kettlewell, ahead of tomorrow’s friendly with Carlisle

On friendly with Carlisle

“I think what we have done has been to test ourselves on different fronts over the course of pre-season- and tomorrow is a slightly different one for us again. We have played Dutch opposition, varying teams from the Scottish Leagues in Betfred Cup Competition and now we take this one on against a Carlisle side managed by a Scottish manager, so it should be an interesting game and certainly one we are looking forward to.”

“We are still waiting on clearance for both players to be honest with you. We would like to get them involved but its just a bit of a waiting game with the powers that be, and we just have to wait and see if we can get that through. Its been great to get them involved in training this week and integrate them with the group we obviously feel that both will have something to offer us and we want to get them out on the pitch as soon as we can.”

On Pre-Season

“I have to say we are delighted with where we are. I think we have ticked so many boxes. First and foremost, we looked at getting those fitness levels up and you want to get the players match sharp. For us as well there is no such thing as meaningless games, we want to try and win every game we play in. Steven and I have already said we are big fans of the cup competition and going in to those competitive games as early as we can, and for us to win the 4 games and the group has been an excellent start of us.”

On the injury list

“We are monitoring Don (Cowie) at the moment just to see how his progress is moving along. Its is getting better but we still feel we are a wee bit away with him. Ross Draper is a more positive one. I’m pretty sure the fans will see Ross back out on the pitch tomorrow for some part of the game and we are delighted as he has obviously been a big part of things for us here last season and we were disappointed to lose him under the circumstances we did, but he has been progressing really well the last couple of days in full training and he will get the opportunity to play some part in the game tomorrow.”
