Easter Orkney training

As part of our Easter holiday programme, four Ross County community coaches spent three days in Orkney delivering a variety of training sessions. The kids participated in fun games, small sided matches as well as skill-based drills. I’m sure the kids would tell you the highlight of the three days was the last day, when we took the League Cup along and they got the chance to get a photo with it!

Well done to all the kids involved, great fun was had by all (coaches included) and we look forward to seeing you again in the Summer. A special mention to Tesco Kirkwall who donated Easter Eggs for every child who took part.

Coach Education on the Islands

An Scottish Football Association / Ross County Football Club course for coaching children at primary school age was delivered at Kirkwall Grammar School, Orkney at the weekend. The course is designed to assist coaches with the planning and organising of their sessions.

Day one looked at developing creative players in 1 v 1 situations with day two covering technical sessions on specific themes. Candidates were then asked to deliver a session, incorporating a drill and game related practice.

We were pleased with the turn out and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the coaches on their efforts and wish them every success in their coaching going forward.

Loss for the Ladies

Unfortunately Ross County Ladies FC lost their last game 6-1 against a good Turriff Utd side. The ladies next game will be away to Deveronvale on the May 1, 2016. Their next home game will be against Granite City on the May 22, 2016 with a 2pm KO at the pitch in Conon Bridge.  If any supporters are able to come along they are very welcome!

Merkinch FA Club Development
The McDonalds Club Development programme with Inverness Clachnacuddin and Merkinch Football Academy is coming to its end after a period of six months. The coupling of the two clubs under the banner of Merkinch Football Association has allowed ourselves to support and deliver specific criteria such as 4s and 7s in-services, creative player, club philosophy and a club coaching plan resulting in a Coaching Curriculum which can be utilised by the respect clubs.

Thanks to the clubs and their coaches for allowing us access to their numerous coaching sessions and games.
