As our under 13s and under 15s head off to contest the renowned international competition, the Costa Daurada Cup, in Spain it has been revealed that first team management, coaches and players have generously contributed to help make the trip happen.
Coaching staff - including manager Jim McIntyre and assistant Billy Dodds - as well as every first team player and various club directors have each donated £100 towards the cost of taking the two teams and coaches to Spain for the tournament. This fantastic amount is added to the generous donations the boys have received from family, friends, the community and from fund-raising efforts such as bag-packing at local supermarkets.
Our under 13s and 15s made a huge impact on last year’s tournament. Our under 13s were knocked out at the quarter final stage but our 15s went all the way to the final and won the tournament.
Head of Youth & Community, Steven Ferguson, said: “This is a fantastic experience and something I see as vital as part of our boys’ development both on and off the pitch. We are delighted with the backing we have received from the community as well as the first team and directors. To add a mentoring aspect to the senior players’ sponsorship, each first teamer specifically sponsored a youth who plays in the same position as them.”
The U13s and U15s will stay in full board in a 4 star hotel for the trip, with their own coach driving them to and from some top class facilities to play the matches. The tournament kicks off on April 13th. www.facebook.com/CostaDauradaCup
