Young Staggies triumph in Highland Derby

A couple of days before heading to Portugal for a two week training camp at the complex which the Russian national team used as their base for Euro 2004, the Ross County Development Squad recorded a great victory over rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Ian McShane opened the scoring for the young Staggies in the home fixture for ICT – which was actually being played at the Highland Football Academy (Dingwall) – with a free kick from 25 yards. Chris Robertson doubled County’s advantage with a header from a Christopher McLaughlin cross. Caley Thistle pulled one back after the interval but young striker Greg Morrison added a third for the Staggies to make it 3-1.

Ross County starting XI: Woods (GK), Miller, Morrison, Robertson, McLaughlin, McShane, Murdoch, R Dingwall, Holden, Morrison, Moffat.

  • A special mention for Ross County youth product, Greg Morrison, who was in the first team match day squad, which traveled to Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup last Saturday. Greg unfortunately missed out on traveling to Portugal with the rest of the Development Squad but everyone at the club is delighted for him to get recognition at first team level.
