Edwards joins County
02/02/2023
Ross County have completed the signing of winger Gwion Edwards on loan from Wigan Athletic for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
29-year-old Edwards has made over 360 career appearances, after coming through the Swansea City academy. Gwion’s career has spanned successful periods at Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United and Ipswich Town. Winger Edwards also had a loan spell at St Johnstone.
Gwion was part of the 2021-22 Wigan Athletic side that won the EFL League One championship returning the side to the Championship.
As well as success at club level, Gwion has also represented his home nation, Wales, at youth levels and has also experience with the Senior Welsh national team- adding to the vast experience of the attacking wideman.
Manager Malky Mackay said, “We are delighted to add somebody of Gwion’s calibre to our squad. He has played over 360 games in English Football for top sides and will add that really important experience and quality to our group.”
“He is a player that we have been aware of for some time and it’s great to now have him with us. We thank Wigan again for their co-operation this month in helping us bring both Gwion and Josh Stones to Ross County.” He added.
