MATCH PREVIEW | RCFC v Rangers

21/12/2022

Ross County and Rangers will do battle for the second time this season as the pair clash in a festive showdown at the Global Energy Stadium.

TEAM NEWS
County will be minus Jack Baldwin who is suspended following last weekend’s red card. David Cancola also returns to the squad following his absence last weekend.

Aside from that Malky Mackay will have the same squad to pick from with Ross Callachan still being assessed ahead of Friday night’s match.

Ben Purrington is the only remaining long term absentee for County.

TALE OF THE TAPE

The last time the two sides met in Dingwall was at the start of 2022, when an exhilarating 3-3 draw was played out at the Global Energy Stadium.

With County having taken a 2-1 lead in at the breakthrough goals from Jordan White & Regan Charles-Cook, Rangers managed to turn the tide and go into stoppage time after the 90 minutes leading 3-2. Up stepped Western Isles hero Matthew Wright who hammered home from close range to gain a big point for The Staggies.

Earlier in this campaign County lost out 4-0 at Ibrox, where a contentious decision to not send of Sands for the home side after dragging down Jordy Hiwula would lead to a frustrating afternoon for Malky Mackay and his side.

THE OPPOSITION

Rangers are under new stewardship as Michael Beale was appointed prior to the cinch Premiership returning earlier this month.

Since his arrival Rangers have managed back-to-back wins against Hibernian and Aberdeen. The Ibrox club are still missing a number of key personnel to injury but will be looking to continue their post- World Cup form as they aim to close the gap on league leaders Celtic.
