Match Preview - St Mirren (H)

27/02/2024

The Staggies will be looking to build confidence from Saturday's win over Livingston as we take on high-flying St Mirren.

Player to Watch

Eamonn Brophy will be eager to continue hitting the back of the net as he takes on his old side. Eamonn netted twice in our clash with Livingston at the weekend including one fantastic finish after great link-up between our three striking options.

Eamonn spent 3 years at the Paisley side before joining the Staggies on loan in January, this loan was then made permanent in the summer of 2023.

Previous Encounters

This encounter marks the third time we have faced St Mirren this season with both sides holding a win so far this campaign. Our most recent match at the Global Energy Stadium ending 1-0 to the Staggies thanks to a late Jordan White winner. Our visit to Paisley in December ended 2-0 to the hosts with goals from Jonah Ayunga and a Ryan Leak own goal.

Familiar Faces

There have been several crossovers between ourselves Ross County, and St Mirren - including a few who are currently at both clubs.

Jay Henderson and Eamonn Brophy are the first two which come to mind, having signed for the club from the Buddies during the summer window.

Marcus Fraser is a popular name around Dingwall as not only a league cup winner but also a league and cup double-winning club captain. It is fair to say that Marcus Fraser spent an incredibly successful period of his career in the Highlands. Of course, he now applies his trade in the central belt with St Mirren.

Two other former Ross County captains also played for St Mirren, including Staggies legend Richard Brittain and another double-winning hero in Keith Watson who captained the club as recently as last season.

Team News

The Staggies injury list continues to be vast with some players edging slightly closer to a return.

Yan Dhanda, Will Nightingale, Connor Randall, Dylan Smith, Ross Callachan and Scott Allardice all miss out. Jack Baldwin is back in training as he looks to make his return.
