Two Ross County sides will head out in action this weekend in the first of the clubs pre-season friendlies. Travelling down the A96, Forres Mechanics and Nairn County will be the hosts as the Staggies continue their pre-season preparations for the new season ahead.
At Mosset Park, Ross County will take on Forres Mechanics in a testimonial match for long-serving Ross “Chucky” MacPherson. The Can Cans, who finished in an impressive 6th in the Highland League last year, have recently added former Ross County academy player James Ross to their ranks and will be preparing for another tough Highland League campaign.
On the trip to Forres, co-manager Steven Ferguson said “We are delighted to be playing in such an important fixture for Ross. He is somebody that has given a tireless amount of commitment to Forres over the years and we are really looking forward to the game. Given the nature of the fixture, with it being a testimonial, we know there will be a great atmosphere, and after some time off its going to be great for our players to go in to that type of atmosphere on the day.”
The other friendly sees Ross County head out to Nairn County. The Station Park team finished 11th in last seasons Highland League and also boast ex Ross County development players from recent years in the shape of Adam Porritt, Cohen Ramsay and Tom MacLennan.
Stuart Kettlewell said “Nairn are a very hardworking team and have some really good young players in their squad. We expect that its going to be a good test for our guys and it gives our fans an opportunity to see the players for the first time in a wee while. Its going to be good to see some of the young boys that were here previously in the academy and see how they are progressing now in a very strong Highland League.”
