The Staggies fell to their first league defeat in 4 matches after losing to Champions Celtic at Parkhead. After a draw and defeat prior to the international break, a ruthless Celtic netted 6 past the Staggies.
The scoring started early when Elyounoussi hit the back of the net after only 2 minutes. The Celtic midfielder cutting inside before sending his right footed effort across goal and past Laidlaw. Blair Spittal had the first opportunity for the Staggies when his effort from 20 yards when past Forster’s post.
Celtic would go on to have two great chances before the half time interval. The first a header cleared off the line by Richard Foster. The second, a swift counter attack when County were pressing forward. McGregor cannoned his effort off the near post and Edouard could only put the rebound wide.
Odsonne Edouard made it 2-0 shortly after the break. With only 2 minutes on the clock in the second period the striker was found unmarked in the box and managed to slip his effort beyond Laidlaw and in to the net.
The game went to 3-0 two minutes later. Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor was spotted unmarked in the box and managed to coolly convert past Laidlaw from only 10 yards. Celtic would effectively kill off the game just one minute later when Edouard was picked out at the back post and his effort was deflected in to the Staggies net.
On 56 minutes the scoreline would be 5-0 to the Champions. The ball was cut back to James Forrest at the near post and he rifled his effort in to the top corner giving Laidlaw no chance to save.
The man who started the scoring would round off the scoring as Elyounoussi made it 6-0 with 18 minutes to go. Substitute Bayo managed to pick him out at the back post and the midfielder claimed his brace by sliding the ball across goal and in to the back of the net to round off and emphatic victory for the Champions.
Its on to next week now and a trip to Easter Road to take on Hibernian.
