Simon Power has been called up to represent the Republic of Ireland Under 21 side for their upcoming European Championship Qualifying matches. Simon, who has joined the Staggies on a season long loan from Norwich will join up with the squad tomorrow.
The Republic of Ireland Under 21 side face ties at home to Armenia on 6th September in Dublin followed by a trip to face Sweden on 10th September. On the international call up Co-Manager Steven Ferguson praised Simon for being selected.
He said “Simon has been a great addition to our squad since he has come in this summer. It was a shame he picked up the injury a few weeks ago but he has recovered well and has worked so hard in training so this will be a real boost to his confidence. I think it shows the calibre of player we have in Simon, this isn’t his first call up to represent his country and it shows that what he is doing here isn’t going unnoticed.”
On his call up Simon Said, “Its great to be called up again. I think for every player in the lead up to international squads being announced its hope rather than expectation and you just hope the management have seen highlights of your matches and seen what you can do. I am really proud and hopefully I can get game time with the Under 21 team and then come back here to fight for a starting place at Ross County.”
